We had a fantastic day exploring the countryside in the Yorkshire Dales. We were scientists, and together successfully identified and located over 10 different wild flowers in a wild flower meadow. Farmer Tom made us very welcome on his farm near Settle, we learnt about the animals he keeps, the food he feeds them and the many different flower species in his wild flower meadow and the insects that they attract. We ended our day with a camp fire, toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate.

We have enjoyed looking at tadpoles and observing them over time. We used a special camera to observe them closely, we’ve talked about the life cycles of frogs and sequenced photographs. The tadpoles are now back in Mrs Oram’s pond but they’ll be back for another visit next half term.

What a busy few weeks we’ve had. We’ve been getting to know each other, exploring our new classroom, making new friends, enjoying school dinners and learning lots. This half term we have started our daily Little Wandle phonics sessions and our reading practice groups.
Books go home with your child on a Thursday and need to be returned the following Tuesday. Please look after our lovely new books and don’t forget to sign the reading record your child brings home, we’re all working towards our bronze badges.
Here is a link to some useful Little Wandle parents resources.
